Art is Power!

Art is Power! includes three separate events, the Speaker Series, Youth Resiliency Summit (#IGNITE) and Student Showcase. Art is Power! is designed to cultivate Solano students' voice, artistic passion and creativity. Participation and interest in the arts has been shown to build resiliency in youth, and resilient youth decrease their chances of using alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) and other risky/high risk behaviors. Art can empower students, enable to them to express themselves, even if they don't know what words to use. Art is Power! is open to all Solano middle and high school students, all events are free to participants and will take place virtually.

 Speaker Series

The Speaker Series is a collection of virtual workshops, bringing local, state, and national artists together with middle and high school students. The series focuses on a wide range of art genres including painting, dance, poetry, spoken word, photography, graphic design and more. Artists talk about techniques, pathways to employment, the power of art, how art can be a healthy outlet and coping strategy, all while providing hands on skills and activities.

Youth Resiliency Summit (YRS)

The YRS provides students with a wide range of workshop topics around issues directly affecting youth. Past topics have included tobacco prevention, alcohol and other drug prevention, healthy relationships, talking with decision makers and more

Student Art Showcase

The culminating event for Art is Power. The Student Art Showcase brings together student artists from across the county to celebrate and recognize their amazing talent. The Art Showcase includes an art exhibit, from 4th - 12th graders
