The 46th Annual Solano County Elementary School Spelling Bee is open to all fourth through sixth-grade students enrolled in public or private schools within Solano County.

Schools must complete and submit the contestant certification form by Friday, March 11, 2022.

The Spelling Bee will consist of two rounds:

  • Round 1 will be a preliminary round held virtually on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 8:00AM - 12:30PM. The top 2 spellers from each school will be eligible to participate in Round 1. Each student will be given a list of words to spell with point values based upon the level of difficulty. Spellers will need to have both video and audio capabilities for Round 1. 
  • Round 2 will be the championship round held at Journey Downtown (308 Main Street, Vacaville) on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. The Spellers Orientation will begin at 5:15 PM in the Green Room with the competition starting at 6:00 PM.This will be an in-person competition with limited attendance and potential live streaming capabilities for additional guests. 

All Spelling Bee participants will receive a certificate and gold Spelling Bee medallion for their participation. First and second place county winners will be awarded a trophy along with trophies for their schools and will advance to the California Spelling Bee Championship.


  • Friday, January 21, 2022, by 3:00pm: Deadline to complete school registration
  • Friday, March 11, 2022, by 300pm: Deadline to complete contestant registration
