This year's campaign aims to serve Solano's Foster and Homeless youth as preparation to return to school with a more positive outlook. Solano County has identified approximately 1,200 homeless youth and 450 youth in the foster care system.  

 

Each year the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE), Foster and Homeless Youth Services program partners with many local organizations such as the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Solano County, Sutter Medical Foundation, North Bay Schools Insurance Authority, and Valero Refinery.  These community-based organizations display their generosity by allowing the use of their facilities as collection locations for backpacks and school supplies, as well as monetary donations and gift cards.

 

With the support of these partnerships, SCOE's Foster and Homeless Youth Services program has been able to distribute backpacks and school supplies to all Solano County school districts each year to meet the needs of foster and homeless youth so they may go back to school with a smile.
