ART IS POWER!

ART IS POWER!

The SCOE Youth Development Department has collaborated with local community-based organizations to develop a countywide Student Art Showcase. The goal is to recognize youth artists, showcasing their talent in a hybrid setting that would allow for performances and displays, as well as participation virtually through a live stream event and pre-recorded content. There are three components of the Student Art Showcase, the performing arts, art exhibit (including a community art division), and community booths.

The Showcase was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of recognizing youth resilience by supporting a wide range of young artists and promoting mental wellness alongside alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention, through artistic expression. The live event will feature performances in spoken word, music, dance, and theater, as well as an exhibit displaying visual art, including painting, drawing, photography, and more. Community partners will hosts booths during the event, offering resource and services related mental mental health, over well-being, drug and alcohol prevention and intervention, and violence prevention.
