The Solano Science and Engineering Fair (SCSEF) is a fun competition based on scientific projects developed by students in Solano County. The objective of the fair is to spark student interest in science and engineering.

WHO MAY ENTER?
Any student enrolled in grades 3-12 in a public, private, or parochial school in Solano County may enter. Homeschooled students are also eligible to enter. Entries may be individual or group (up to only two per group) consisting of experiments only.

ENTRY FORM DEADLINE: Friday, February 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM PST.
All entry applications must be submitted online or at the Solano County Office of Education. Faxed copies are accepted (Attn: Alexandra Thomas at 707-863-4174). No late entries will be accepted.
PROJECT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Monday, March 10, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM PST.
All entrants must bring their projects to McCormack Hall, located at the Solano County Fairgrounds.
SCIENCE PROJECT EXHIBITION, ENGINEERING CHALLENGE & STEAM EXHIBITORS’ SHOWCASE:

AWARDS CEREMONY: Thursday, March 13, 2025 | 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Friends, family and community members are welcome.
JUDGING:
Participants’ investigative science and engineering projects will be reviewed and judged by representatives from various universities.
STATEWIDE COMPETITION:
Top middle and high school winners in this competition will be eligible to enter the California State Science and Engineering Fair in April 2024.
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR ART GRANT:
Solano County teachers may apply to receive art grant funding from the Hewlett Foundation to enhance project displays and encourage artistic design to effectively communicate scientific concepts for the Solano County Science and Engineering Fair. Supplies will be awarded and prioritized in the order of applicants. Requested supply numbers will be compared to the total number of student entry forms submitted. Student entry forms must be completed with the required parent/guardian waivers by February 21, 2025, 3 p.m.
